Would you rather buy a mini PC? These 5 advantages aren’t offered by laptops or regular PCs

Some users may still know the typical Mini-PCs from open-plan offices. These computers were often only equipped with the absolute minimum, so that Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel were almost the limit besides browsing the Internet.
However, there are also powerful, compact devices on the market. And even if the performance technical roles are not yet playing in the PC top league, the handy computers have several other advantages. They make them a better choice for many compared to the chunky complete PC and the still significantly larger laptops. But in what cases should you reach for the Mini-PC?
If you need an affordable PC for a Home Office
At the latest since 2020, the topic of home office has finally arrived in Germany. Some companies have recognized the potential of this and even offer the opportunity to work from home in part or full-time. If you are looking for a practical PC for everyday office activities, then a mini PC is a real alternative.
These devices can now also afford more than just the classic Microsoft 365 programs. Even video conferencing and easy photo editing with Photoshop or Canva do not pose any challenge to many mini PCs. It is important here that you have enough RAM (memory) in your PC. We recommend at least 16 GB (gigabytes), but 32 GB is even more future-proof.
If you don’t want to spend too much money on your PC
If you are looking for a cost-effective computer, then a mini PC is a real alternative. Most models do not use dedicated ones, but an integrated graphics unit (iGPU), which is installed in the processor (CPU). This eliminates additional costs for a graphics card.
With Windows 11 as your operating system, you already get entry-level models from 200 euros. Nevertheless, it is certainly always worth a look at the details. Realistic prices for a solid mini-PC usually start from 400 euros and can go up to the 2000 euro mark.
We advise you to pay attention to enough memory. In addition, 1 TB of mass storage in the form of an SSD (solid state drive) is desirable. If you don’t know what you’re particularly with processors, it’s worth looking at the processor installed by using a Google search.
If you want to keep your power consumption low
Due to the missing graphics card, a Mini-PC does not need so much power. In this respect, almost all computers of this kind are better than a regular PC. If the low power consumption is particularly important to you, a mini PC is clearly recommended.
If you want to use the PC flexibly in different locations
If you want to transport your computer occasionally, the benefits of a mini PC are obvious. Most models can be “disassembled” without any problems, i.e., the connected peripherals. The device itself then usually fits into every backpack, so transport is no problem.
In earlier times, the huge computers were transported to LAN parties. Users born before the turn of the millennium will perhaps remember these moments. However, the Mini-PC is very easy to transport, but is not particularly suitable for gaming.
If you are NOT a passionate PC gamer
What would we be in the last case? If you play certain titles such as League of Legends, EA FC 25, or Street Fighter 6 on occasion, at most occasionally, then many mini PCs can achieve this. However, graphic-hungry titles are not playable due to the missing graphics card. If this is not a problem for you or you “smell” anyway about the console, then this is another argument for a mini PC.
Cheap PCs in a compact format for little money
If you are looking for a home office PC, which must not cost too much and should consume little power, then a mini PC is a real alternative. If the missing dedicated graphics unit is a problem for you, then there may be a suitable solution for it.
If the operating system does not matter, you should consider the basic version of the Apple Mac Mini. The Mini-PC, released in 2024, has installed the in-house M4 chip, which is also suitable for creative minds and video editing as well as photo editing. This Apple’s mini-PC is far superior to many competing products in this regard.
