In front of Galaxy Watch 8: These Samsung smartwatches now get an important update

Technique enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the new Galaxy Watch 8 from Samsung, which is scheduled to be released this year. However, two already available smartwatches from the South Korean manufacturer will first receive an update, whose installation is recommended as soon as recommended.
As reported by the news portal 9to5Google, Samsung is currently distributing the security update for March 2025 to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra. The two smartwatches had recently received a software update in January. The description of the changes is close, but a detail seems somewhat unusual.
Small changelog, large file size
According to 9to5Google, the changelog for the update says the new software should improve the stability, reliability and security of the Galaxy Watch 7 system and Galaxy Watch Ultra. Concrete bug fixes are not mentioned. The file size of the update is specified with 945 megabytes – unusually large for an update with such a short changelog. It may be possible that Samsung will provide further details on the changes included at a later date.
Currently, the security update for March 2025 is only available for the Galaxy Watch 7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra in selected regions such as Korea. In the coming days, however, it will also be available for download in other countries. Since the last update was already a while ago and the new software is more extensive, it is recommended not to wait too long with the installation.
The Galaxy Watch 8 and other important Samsung updates
Some important references have already appeared on the unreleased Galaxy Watch 8. Two model variants of the new smartwatch were viewed at one point. One of them could even be equipped with a larger battery.
Samsung is currently distributing two important updates for smartphones: the security update for April 2025 and the new operating system, One UI 7.0, based on Android 15. The latter is currently also receiving four models in Germany.
